30+km LSD run - my longest LSD run to date - Oct 31, 2010

Long before the sun was up, I was up and running with Coach Carina, Raff, Julie, Ronald, Jessie, and Noah. We started our run in front of Ayala Triangle, then straight to the Kalayaan flyover along Buendia Avenue enroute to the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, all the way to Pasay City(thru Sales Road-Andrews Ave-Domestic Road), MOA to CCP complex and back to MOA(our finish line).

I had a great time running, it was my longest LSD run to date. :-)

Half-marathon virgin no more. :-)

Though I never expected that I would be running my first 21km race this year (my plan was to run it next year), I'm still glad that I did. Last Oct. 24, 2010, I ran with 1,000 plus runners in the 21km race of the Adidas King Of The Road race and managed to finish it in 2hrs 7mins and 7seconds.

In running a race, one must be prepared to run the distance. Thanks to the LSD(long slow distance)runs I joined, complimented by the running sessions I had with Adination of Runners - BHS group, they sure helped me prepare for my first 21km race. :-)

May 30, 2010 Nature Valley Run

I kept on tossing and turning, the night before the race, as a result, I only slept for just 3 hours. At 1am, I was awake for my usual pre-race meal, consisted of a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of coffee. By 3:30am, I left for the Fort, to avoid missing my gunstart. It was 4:30am when I got to the assembly area. I listened to my "running playlist" on my mp3 player while I watched fellow runners did their pre-race rituals.

I had a smooth run with just 3 hours of sleep and no practice runs the week leading to the race. I hit my left knee at the side of my bed and feared that it might got worst if I ran during the weekdays. Having clocked 28:13 in my 5km race, I was relieved because it was still faster than my first ever 5km race which was 29:23.

On Labor Day, I ran my first 10k run, and I loved it.

It took 1 hour, 1 minute and 55 seconds to cover my first ever 10km run at the Takbo Para Kay Kristo run held at the Ayala Alabang Town Center parking lot.

It was a great run, despite starting 30 minutes later than the original time.

Run United For Wellness- my second 5k run

Despite not having ran the week heading to the Sunday(March 7) race because of sickness, I still managed to beat my previous 5k time of 29minutes and 23 seconds by a minute.

I was not about to repeat the same mistake I made during my first race by coming to the venue just in the nick of time. That Sunday morning, I woke up exactly 2am and had a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of coffee before I had a cold shower.By 4am I was on the road to The Fort for the race, and by 5am I was in the assembly area.

The race was well-organized as it started on time and race marshals were always there to remind us, runners, where we should turn towards our respective routes.

How I got hooked into running

I was never into running back in my school years as I was more focused on my studies. It was only in 2008 that I got hooked into it after reading the book Russell Taylor wrote entitled "The Looniness Of The Long Distance Runner". Running was a great help, and still is, up to these days not only in my tennis game but also in my well-being.
