The Blue Runner got hooked with the hallyu wave.

Having stopped from running and playing tennis, not because I no longer enjoy them, I got hooked with the hallyu wave. Korean movies, dramas, music, language, and culture, I'm loving them all.If ever I'll be choosing a next sport to try engaging myself with, that would have to be taekwondo. :-)

Well... hello there tennis

Having been away from the tennis court in weeks, it was nice to have played again yesterday. I lost my first doubles match 6-8 as errors were coming from my racquet during the games. What I felt good about yesterday's game was that I held my all serves. Some say that absence from tennis game would be felt in the early matches after the hiatus but eventually, the court sense will be back in no time. And it did, me and my doubles partner won the next match, 8-6. :-)

Back to playing tennis after a long time

Yesterday was my tennis comeback after a 5-month hiatus due to some health issues. A doubles win (from 1-6 down to 8-6), a doubles loss(4-8), and a singles win (fom 3-1 to 6-3) were enough to send shivers down my spine and tell myself that I'm almost back in the game. In the next months, I'll be back to my other passion -running. :-)

2011 year ender

After procrastinating for two consecutive Sundays, I finally made my 2011 season-ending run, a 12.96-km-run at the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat. It was special for me to run again at the Manila Memorial Park since it was my original running place during the time I was focused more with my tennis game and running was just my cross training activity. I was still a lone runner back then.

Although 2011 went by in a flash, I was happy to have set new PR for 5km, ran both a full marathon and an ultra marathon. I have met new runner friends through the 14 races I have joined this year. The after-race bondings with my HOB family were always great.

Here were the number of races I joined this year:

21km 8
16km 1
5km 2
32km 1
42.195km 1
50km 1
total 14

Looking forward to 2012 with more mileage and post-race bonding moments with my HOB family.

My first official marathon at the 35th Milo Marathon Elims

On a chilly Sunday morning, me and more than a thousand 42km runners braved the stormy weather to do what we most liked, running. With my running playlist on repeat mode playing in my mp3 player, I took the challenge, and ran my first official marathon. Along the CCP, friends from Hang Out Buddies/ANR- BHS/Takbo.ph were giving medical aid/bananas/chocolates and cheers to fellow runners.Having trained for this event, I was happy that I finished it without cramps, blisters, or a pair of injured knees. My official time was 05:02:55 and was ranked 624th in a total of 1,127 42km runners.

30+km LSD run - my longest LSD run to date - Oct 31, 2010

Long before the sun was up, I was up and running with Coach Carina, Raff, Julie, Ronald, Jessie, and Noah. We started our run in front of Ayala Triangle, then straight to the Kalayaan flyover along Buendia Avenue enroute to the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, all the way to Pasay City(thru Sales Road-Andrews Ave-Domestic Road), MOA to CCP complex and back to MOA(our finish line).

I had a great time running, it was my longest LSD run to date. :-)

Half-marathon virgin no more. :-)

Though I never expected that I would be running my first 21km race this year (my plan was to run it next year), I'm still glad that I did. Last Oct. 24, 2010, I ran with 1,000 plus runners in the 21km race of the Adidas King Of The Road race and managed to finish it in 2hrs 7mins and 7seconds.

In running a race, one must be prepared to run the distance. Thanks to the LSD(long slow distance)runs I joined, complimented by the running sessions I had with Adination of Runners - BHS group, they sure helped me prepare for my first 21km race. :-)
